Blacksmith demonstrator needed for Libertyville Pumpkin Fest, Oct. 20th

The Libertyville (Illinois) Junior Woman’s Club is looking for a member of the IVBA that would be able to demonstrate his/her skills at metalworking during the Libertyville Pumpkin Fest on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 10 AM – 12 Noon in downtown Libertyville.

The Libertyville Junior Woman’s club is a non-profit organization that raises money for the women and children in the area.  Their club members believe being able to witness this art form and to learn some of the history of blacksmithing would be a valuable addition to their fall festival.

If you would like to take part in educating the local residents of Libertyville about blacksmithing, please contact Eileen Shatzner at 734-355-2910, or email her at eileenshatzer@gmail.com.

New Websmith in Town

Hello IVBA family,

My name is Chris Vranek and earlier this year I was asked if I wanted to take over the day-to-day operations for the IVBA website.  I decided to give it a shot, so I’ve been handed the keys to this buggy and I will attempt to keep this site a great place to meet and come together as smiths, colleagues, and friends.

To that end, I’ll also be working on our Facebook page.  Please come visit and share your latest smithing projects, ideas, photos, and local events so we can all enjoy them together!

See you around, and keep smithing!

Chris
